Privacy Policy — Way Better Notifications

Summary

The App runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There is no analytics, telemetry, advertising or third-party service, and the App makes no network connections.

What the App accesses

• Notifications. With your explicit permission, the App reads the notifications Windows displays (using the Windows User Notification Listener API) so it can re-display them in its own popups and keep a history.
• Application and display information. The App reads the name/identifier of the application that sent a notification, and information about your monitors, only to display notifications and to remember window placement.

Where your data is stored

All data stays on your device and is never uploaded:

• Notification history — a local SQLite database.
• Settings — the Windows registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WayBetterNotifications.
• Diagnostic logs — local text files, kept for troubleshooting.

When the App is installed from the Microsoft Store, the database and logs are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\WayBetterNotifications. When it runs as a standalone build, they are stored next to the application.

Data retention and deletion

Data is kept until you delete it. You can:

• Delete individual notifications, or clear the whole history, from within the App.
• Remove all App data by deleting the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\WayBetterNotifications and the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WayBetterNotifications.

Uninstalling the App removes the App itself. The local data folder and registry key may remain on the device and can be deleted manually as described above.

Permissions

• User Notification Listener. Requested the first time you run the App. You may allow or deny it, and you can revoke it at any time in Windows Settings → Privacy & security → Notifications.
• Full trust. The App runs as a normal desktop application in your user account.

Children

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. New versions will be published at this address with an updated "Last updated" date.
